Location: Meeting room at MUSC
In attendance: Sheri Ruth, Randy Townsend, Susan Fennell, Tom DeVore, Andrew

The officers acknowledge and thank Randy Townsend for
arranging the conference
room, as well as providing lunch.Financial Statement:
- Statement
was presented by Susan Fennell. Currently the CSS is in good financial shape.
- Speaker
fees. This topic was discussed and decided that we will have one person assigned
to negotiate fees paid to speakers to insure that all are paid equally as to
their profession.
Membership:
- Andrew requested, Sheri Ruth appointed, other
officers unanimously agree. Due to the daunting task of membership
there is now a sub-committee to help with this significant task.
- We will continue to the cost of membership.
As discussed in the board meeting membership is what defines
non-profit groups.
Planning for the spring 2010 meeting:
- “Give aways”
- The bags have been a longstanding tradition.
However, a significant amount of good feedback was given to the
beach towels that was done before. The towels will be a quality more
long lasting embroidery with the new CSS logo on it.
- Dates will be from the Wed. May 19th
and end that Fri. May 21st. Wed. will be reserved for a
workshop, or other educational opportunity.
- We will continue to provide CD’s with
presenters PowerPoint etc presentations when possible.
- Name tags. As discussed we will work on
updating the registration to insure that proper name tags with name,
credentials, title, and place of employment.
- Friday's half day / lunch. Due to the low turn
out for the final lunch it was discussed to offer attendees a lunch
at Webster’s as opposed to holding a more expensive lunch in a
reserved room.
- Activities:
- Many activities and games were discussed.
A number of great ideas came to mind that have been big hits at
national and even other sleep society meetings. We will
announce these in the future, or make them a nice surprise for
those who attend. Here’s a hint to get ahead…. Now your sleep!
Trivial type questions may…ummm errrrr,……will likely be asked.
This was one part of the meeting that no one was short on ideas.
We will work on prizes for these games and activities.
- Invest in a new banner with the new CSS
logo.
New Logo contest:
- As a result of the past Spring meeting CSS
will represent South Carolina. Former and new members from any state
are always welcome to join.
- Logo contest to be posted on the website.
Entries to be submitted to the Sheri Ruth, our current president.
Ideas will be sent to Sheri either as an attachment in an e-mail.
- Contest / letter from the president:
Dear Carolina Sleep Society Members,
We are looking for a new logo to represent the
Carolina Sleep Society. Our society formed in 1991, and we have grown so much
over the last 18 years. The time has come to refocus, regroup and re declare
our mission and purpose. I am encouraging member participation, so what better
way to begin this group involvement is to let the members come up with our new
logo. I would like to extend a "thank you" in advance to all of you who will
be submitting their designs for consideration to select a new Carolina Sleep
Society logo.
You may either e-mail your submissions to
wsruth5@bellsouth.net,
or mail them to:
Sheri Ruth
449 Millstone Rd.
Florence SC 29505
A winner will be selected from all designs received,
after the board members vote and choose the winning design. The winner will be
announced by December 1, 2009. Submissions will need to be received by 11/2/09.
Sincerely,
Sheri Ruth, RRT, RPSGT
President – Carolina Sleep Society
